I am a licensed psychologist serving as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) in the State of California. I provide independent, impartial, and professional psychological QME evaluations within the workers’ compensation system. My Role As A QME Professional
As a Qualified Medical Evaluator, I function as an independent examiner—not a treating provider and not an advocate for either party. Evaluations are conducted to address specific medical-legal questions raised in the referral, including:
Psychiatric diagnosis
Industrial causation
Apportionment
Permanent impairment
Functional limitations and work capacity
Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI)
Need for future medical treatment, when applicable
All opinions are rendered within reasonable medical probability and are based on a comprehensive review of records, clinical interview, and psychological testing when indicated, consistent with California Labor Code requirements and professional standards of care.
Clinical and Forensic Expertise
I bring extensive experience in both clinical psychology and forensic evaluation. Areas commonly assessed include:
Trauma- and stressor-related disorders
Depressive and anxiety disorders
Adjustment disorders related to workplace stressors
Substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions
Personality and behavioral factors relevant to occupational functioning
Psychological aspects of chronic pain and somatic complaints
My approach as a Qualified Medical Evaluator focuses on the functional impact of psychological symptoms on daily activities and work performance, with conclusions supported by clinical findings and available medical documentation.
Experience with Diverse Populations
I have substantial experience evaluating individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. QME evaluations are conducted with cultural awareness and sensitivity to the ways in which background, life experience, and access to care may influence symptom presentation and reporting in the workers compensation process.
I am committed to accessibility and equity through:
Statewide telehealth evaluations, conducted in compliance with applicable regulations
Coordination of certified interpreters, including American Sign Language, when needed
Respectful, culturally responsive assessment practices
These measures help ensure that all individuals are evaluated fairly, accurately, and with dignity within the medical-legal process.
Evaluation Process
Each evaluation follows a structured and transparent process, which may include:
Review of referral materials and medical-legal questions
Comprehensive clinical interview
Administration of standardized psychological testing, when indicated
Review of relevant medical, employment, and collateral records
Preparation of a detailed medical-legal report
All components of the evaluation are completed to ensure professional continuity and integrity
Referral
Referrals to work with me as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) are accepted from applicant and defense attorneys, claims administrators, and other authorized parties in workers compensation cases. I am dedicated to providing timely, impartial, and well-supported psychological evaluations that assist in informed decision-making within the California workers’ compensation system.
